Plan for 'health, wealth and happiness' in retirement, expert says

Planning ways to pay for care well in advance could be advantageous once people reach the retirement age.

Indeed, one expert commented that it is essential to plan for "health, wealth and happiness" during retirement.

Dianne Bown-Wilson, chief executive of In My Prime, explained that retirement is lasting longer these days, and it is therefore important people ensure they have finances to sustain their lifestyle.

Once the "honeymoon period" of being retired is over, some people may become depressed, lonely and unmotivated, according to the expert.

"Planning to avoid such a scenario needs to be undertaken well before retirement - it's not enough to assume that everything will be wonderful or just 'hope for the best'," she warned.
