Model Nell McAndrew has thrown her support behind tomorrow's (Friday 11th) Age UK Bobble Day, which is encouraging people around the UK to consider the winter fuel needs of older people.

Age UK has asked the nation to raise awareness by buying and wearing an orange bobble tomorrow, with all funds going towards the charity's Spread the Warmth campaign which aims to help over 350,000 people with heating this winter.

While older people with long term care plans are unlikely to be left out in the cold, Age UK wants to highlight the fact that over 250 people a year die as a result of insufficient heating.

"I'd urge everyone to get involved on 11th February to make a real difference to vulnerable older people during winter," said Ms McAndrew.

Recently, 61-year-old Simon Knighton from Wiltshire announced that he will scale Mount Everest in April, with the aim of raising £100,000 for Age UK.
