March care home faces closure

Posted on 12 April 2011

People living at Kingswood Park in March, Cambridgeshire, may find themselves choosing a care home in future as the current facility faces closure.

The building is currently under review by Methodist Homes for the Aged (MHA), which runs Kingswood Park, the Fenland Citizen reports.

MHA said the building is outdated and has promised it will assist residents and their families in choosing a care home if the closure goes ahead.

The newspaper reports the company as saying: "MHA, the care provider, and Sanctuary Group, who own the building, have worked hard to consider the best option for the future, placing great emphasis on the need to make the best decision for residents and staff into the long term."

A consultation period will run until May 1st and an announcement with the decision will be made on May 6th.

Care home provider Southern Cross is also undergoing a crisis at the moment, recently asking its landlords to rearrange rent obligations in order to give it more breathing room.
