Care home resident celebrates 105th birthday

Posted on 04 May 2011

People with long term care plans were celebrating a 105th birthday at a home in Croydon, it has been reported.

Mabel Trimmer, who now lives at Heavers Court residential home, was born in Kingston Hospital and remained in Colliers Wood for most of her life, reports Your Local Guardian.

Born in 1906, Mabel worked as a hospital orderly before retiring in 1966 and moving into the care home in 1994.

According to the news source, a spokesman for the care home said: "Mabel is loved by everyone here for her warmth and for being such a lovely person."

This follows celebrations in care homes up and down the country on the day of the royal wedding (April 29th).

Residents paying for care in some Ellesmere Port homes marked the momentous event in a very English manner with bunting and flags, reports the Ellesmere Port Pioneer.
