Tyneside Council back access to more services

People living in north Tyneside will be provided with a wider range of options when choosing a care home in future, after the launch of a Community Resource Service.
The service, to be provided by North Tyneside Council, will help people to access a number of community and social opportunities in the area, the News Guardian reports.
"As well as offering services on site, it will provide a resource to support older people to access community facilities," councillor Les Miller told the newspaper.
"And we want it to help new common interest groups to establish themselves."
The council recently made a commitment to maintaining day services in the area that older people have expressed an interest in, as well as specialist provision for people with disabilities or dementia.
It follows reports in Kenilworth Today that Kenilworth Waverley Day Centre is appealing for more people in the area to use the service.
