Sussex care homes 'provide excellent service'
The Care Quality Commission has said that 13 care homes in the Chichester, Midhurst and Bognor Regis areas are providing an excellent service to their residents, no doubt making them attractive to people choosing a care home.
Homes taken into account are those that provide care for older people, but not specialised facilities for individuals with mental illness or other conditions, reports the Bognor Regis Observer.
Ten care homes from the regions were seen to be 'adequate', while 143 from across the UK were 'good'.
A West Sussex County Council spokesman told the publication that facilities considered to be 'poor' under old regulations have been reviewed so decisions can be made on placements in the future.
"The advice is for individuals and/or their family to refer to the most recent publication relating to that service on the CQC website, visit the home and talk to the manager in order that an informed decision may be made before committing to a particular home," he continued.
This follows news that a nursing home in Hartshone could be first choice for those choosing a care home after its kitchen was awarded a five star rating from health inspectors.
The Nether Hall Care Home also received an excellent rating for its internal audit system, according to the Burton Mail.
