Rosie the donkey brings seaside to care home residents
Residents with long term care plans enjoyed a fun session reminiscing about their trips to the seaside when Rosie the donkey paid them a visit.
The rescue donkey attended a beach party with residents and people from the local community at Birchlands Residential Care Home in Haxby, reports the York Press.
Revellers had the chance to dress up in hats and indulge in some traditional seaside treats including ice creams, ice lollies and scampi and chips.
Rosie also made bedside visits to those residents who were unable to get to the lounge.
Judith Sumiskey, the home's manager, told the newspaper that the donkey brought back a lot of memories for the residents and they 'absolutely loved' being able to pet her.
"Because the residents are unable to get out to the seaside we do something once a year to bring the seaside to them," she said.
A donkey named Mary recently visited those paying for care at Crewkerne, reports the Chard and Ilminster News.
