New Gainsborough care home opened

A new care home has opened in Gainsborough, which will widen the choice of people in the area choosing a care home.

Drovers Call home is a purpose-built facility designed to provide residential, nursing, dementia care, chiropody, opticians, physiotherapy, hairdressers and religious services, reports the Gainsborough Standard.

The 60 bed Knight's Care home has been built on the site of an old pub called the Drovers Call.

Matron Julia Buck told the newspaper that she used to drink in the pub and she would like to turn one of the home's seven lounges into a pub.

"This is what I've always wanted," she said.

"It's a privilege and I'm very lucky. The facilities here are fantastic - it's more like a hotel with nurses than a home."

People looking into long term care plans will have their options widened further by a £2.5 million extension on the Belmont View care home in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire, according to the Hertfordshire Mercury.
