New extra-care scheme build 'excellent'
A pioneering extra-care scheme has received an excellence award, no doubt putting it in the minds of those choosing a care home.
The K&C Construction team behind the Llys y Coed extra-care scheme in Llandudno won the Best Social/Affordable Housing Development prize at the all-Wales LABC awards, reports the Daily Post.
In a mixed refurbishment and new-build scheme, the team transformed a former nursing home and connected it to the new structure via a glass walkway.
Managing director Chris White told the publication: "This really is an honour for us, we're proud to have built this first class facility. After all, an accolade from Building Control speaks volumes for the quality we've achieved."
Meanwhile, a Stourport care home has received an award for its high level of dementia care, according to the Kidderminster Shuttle.
Sanctuary Care's Ravenhurst Care Home was given the Improving the Quality of Dementia Care award, along with a grant worth £7,500 which will be reinvested in the home.
