New care facility for Westcliff?
The long term care plans of people in Westcliff could be expanded, thanks to plans to demolish an old hotel and build a facility on the site.
A planning application has been filed to knock down the Balmoral hotel and build an 82-bed £3.5 million nursing home in its place, reports the Echo.
Paul Seager, of ACS Design, said that a nursing home would fit into the mainly residential Valkyrie Road.
"The proposal will put back into use, for the benefit of the community, a site which would otherwise remain empty and its condition would continue to deteriorate to the detriment of the surrounding area."
Meanwhile, people choosing a care home in Leicester may in future be able to opt for one on the site of the derelict County Arms in Glen Parva, reports the Leicester Mercury.
Care firm McCarthy & Stone are to submit plans to Blaby District Council to transform the run down pub into a retirement village.
