Mary the donkey visits residents paying for care
The animal-loving people paying for care at Crewkerne were thrilled when Mary the donkey came to visit.
The donkey, from the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Donkeys Sanctuary, visited the care home for a presentation from the residents, reports Chard and Ilminster News.
Already big supporters of the trust, the residents sponsor a donkey called Vijay from the sanctuary.
Sanctuary representative Mandy Newton was presented with £80 the residents had raised through the purchase of knitted animals made by scheme co-ordinator Heather Parsons.
Resident Julie Goswell told the publication that those at the home do what they can to help the sanctuary.
"I think that's due to a lot of us sharing holiday memories from our childhood with donkey rides at the beach. It has made our day that the sanctuary has taken the time to visit our scheme," she said.
This is not the first time residents paying for care have been treated to a visit by one of the creatures, with Molly the donkey visiting The Laurels in Winsford as part of an animal therapy session, reports the Winsford Guardian.
