Football team score funds for care home residents

A generous football team has raised funds for local people paying for care in Ellesmere Port.

Capenhurst Villa raised some £400 for the residents of Astbury Lodge, reports the Ellesmere Port Pioneer.

The sportsmen raised the money through charity presentations and raffles in order to give the care home residents extra money for entertainment and days out.

Cook and care assistant at the home, Bev Johnson, has close links with the team, which is why they chose to donate the funds to the facility.

Steve Maddock, care manager at the home, said: "I'd like to thank the generous lads from the football team for raising the money for the home - it makes a big difference to the lives of our residents and means we can plan even more exciting activities and outings."

This comes after residents at Pinehurst Care Centre in Crowthorne held a Spanish garden party to raise money for a sensory garden, reports GetBracknell.
