Eat well to avoid painful joints, nutritionist says

It is essential that people paying for care pay attention to the health of their joints.

Nutritionist Fiona Kirk has advised that older people refrain from consuming acidic food in order to lessen joint pain.

She explained that diets with excessive meats, junk and processed food create an acidic environment within the body, making inflammation more difficult to control.

Ms Kirk continued that anti-inflammatory products tend to be those which create alkalinity in the body instead of acidity.

"It is very much a matter of getting the diet right for the person. The more fruits and vegetables the better because you are getting the antioxidants plus the nutrients," concluded the expert.
