Chesterfield Council commended for elderly care

Posted on 21 March 2011

People paying for long term care in Chesterfield will be pleased to know that the local authority has received a commendation over the level of services that it provides for the elderly.

Chesterfield Borough Council was given the European Standard Accreditation from the Telecare Services Association for the installation of alarms, customer service and response to alarm calls, the Sheffield Star reports.

It is the first council in England to receive the accreditation and councillor Tony Rogers, lead member for homes and neighbourhoods, said he was pleased to get it.

"It's a well-deserved recognition for the hard-working staff providing an excellent service that looks after many of our town's more elderly residents," he told the newspaper.

The news comes after the Sutton Coldfield Observer reported that a care team that looks after older patients at the Good Hope Hospital has received the Excellent Care Award for improving the lives of patients and their families.
