Care home to open in historic vicarage?
People choosing a care home in East Staffordshire could soon be living in a historic vicarage, if plans go ahead.
Proposals to transform the old vicarage into a 57-bed nursing home have been submitted to East Staffordshire Borough Council, reports the Burton Mail.
Paul Hearn has applied to the council to change the use of the Grade II listed building in Barton into a residential nursing home and to make changes to the interior of the building.
The move would also create 60 jobs for people living nearby.
According to the publication, Mr Hearn said: "The village lacks a care home. The facility will provide for accommodation for older persons especially those with caring difficulties, with infirmities and with stages of dementia."
This follows good news for those choosing a care home in Waltham, with the official opening of the Enable Care Centre taking place last Tuesday (May 10th).
