Care home organises day of fun for baby unit

Staff and people paying for care at a York care home put together a day of fun in an effort to raise money for the special baby care unit at city's hospital.

Around 200 visitors enjoyed the action-packed day, which featured a bouncy castle, face painting, a penalty shoot-out, refreshment stalls, a raffle and ride-on tractors and fire engines, reports the York Press.

Many visitors made the day extra fun by donning fancy dress, and some had the opportunity to meet York City Knights players.

The money, raised by those at Barchester Health Care's Mulberry Court care home is to go towards the special care baby unit at York Hospital.

Sue Hill, activities co-ordinator at Mulberry Court, said: "Considering how bad the weather was, we were very happy with the turnout.

"Our residents really enjoyed themselves."

Meanwhile, a summer fete at a Lutterworth care home raised a massive £1,000 for its residents, reports the Lutterworth Mail.
