Care home launches beach-themed garden
Posted on 06 September 2011
The benefits of peaceful outdoor areas for residents paying for care are well established, but one care home has gone further, opening a beach-themed garden.
A stimulating sensory beach scene, a forest and herb garden are all featured in the grounds of Minster Grange Residential Home, reports The Kidderminster Shuttle.
Residents enjoyed a summer fete to launch the beach-themed area, raising money for the home's entertainment fund.
Books, cakes, a tombola and raffle all took place and Stourport Choral and Operatic Society opened the fete with a performance.
Registered manager of the home Helen Davis later congratulated all involved for a successful day raising money.
Many care home residents have enjoyed summery garden parties this year, with those at the Florence Shipley Nursing Home holding their own, reports the Ripley and Heanor news.
Tombola, clothes and bric-a-brac stalls were all featured at the event, along with guess the weight of the cake and guess the name of the teddy competitions.
