Aberdeen care home to expand with charity help
Posted on 10 February 2011
People in the Aberdeen area will be provided with more facilities when choosing a care home in future, after plans to expand Ruthrieston House are completed.
Charity VSA will add an extra ten bedrooms to the home in a £1.5 million project that will begin in May, the Aberdeen Press and Journal reports.
"We have been considering doing this for a while, because we are all getting older. The need for high-quality care is growing and will continue to do so," VSA communications director Alan Reid told the newspaper.
"The residents are very keen to see this go ahead."
People living at the home will move to another facility on May Baird Avenue while the work is being carried out.
It follows news that the Homes and Communities Agency is providing £2 million in funding for a new community scheme in Derby that will provide more options for people choosing a care home.
